Small Group Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Bangalore
Arrive in Bangalore, transfer to your hotel, and meet your fellow travelers and Tour Leader (or local guide).

Hotel: The Chancery (or similar)

Day 2: Bangalore to Mysore
Visit the beautiful Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. En route to Mysore, stop at a local 'fast food' institution to sample a classic south Indian vegetarian lunch. Travel to the river island of Srirangapatnam and visit the Ranganathaswamy Fort. In Mysore, spend the evening at leisure.

Day 3: Mysore
Drive to the temple complex at Somnathpur. Embark on a walking tour with a local expert to reveal the quirks and hidden gems of Mysore's rich history. Visit the colorful Devaraja market, one of India's liveliest. Visit the Maharajah's Palace before enjoying free time or driving out to Chamundi Hill for sunset.

Day 4: Mysore to Nagarhole National Park
Continue southwest to the jungles of Nagarhole National Park, one of India's lesser-known national parks. Take a boat cruise on the Kabini Reservoir to view herds of Indian elephants, crocodiles and birdlife.

Day 5: Nagarhole National Park
Further explore the jungles of Nagarhole on a jeep safari either at dawn or in the late afternoon where you may see elephants, Gaur (bison), deer and if you're lucky, tiger or Leopard.

Day 6: Nagarhole National Park to Coonoor
Drive to the hill town of Coonoor. Climb the Nilgiri Hills and pass through scenic farmlands and eucalypt plantations to arrive in Coonoor.

Day 7: Ooty
From the British-Indian railway station in central Coonoor, ride on the famous Nilgiris Queen 'toy train' to Ooty, a former British hill station famous for its tea production. This experience allows you to step back into the Nilgiris' colonial past. Visit St Stephen's Church, Bee Museum and a special chocolate shop which has been family-run since the days of the British Raj. Head out to Dodabetta Peak, one of the highest points in the area, offering lovely views of the Nilgiris countryside. In the afternoon, drive back to Coonoor.

Day 8: Coonoor to Munnar
Depart for Munnar on a road journey taking in verdant tropical mountain scenery and beautiful vistas of lush Nilgiris forests, the wild hilly scrub jungles of the Anaimudi Tiger Reserve and plantations. After a long day of travel, arrive at your accommodation located in a hillside setting of cardamom and coffee plantations.

Day 9: Munnar
Visit the Kannan Devan Tea Cooperative to learn about the tea-making process and sample some tea. Stop at the Shristi Foundation, a local charity that helps the local tea community by providing education and employment opportunities. In the afternoon, enjoy a hill safari to see local farming and produce.

Day 10: Munnar to Kumarakom
Continue the journey southwest to Kerala, stopping en route at a family-run pineapple and rubber plantation. Tour the grounds and enjoy a traditional Keralan lunch. Afterwards, continue to the Kerala backwaters.

Day 11: Kumarakom
Enjoy a blissful day at leisure to savor the beautiful setting and atmosphere of the Kerala backwaters. Join a cooking demonstration and enjoy sundowners by the lakeside.

Day 12: Kerala Backwaters to Cochin
Cruise through Kerala's backwaters aboard a 'kettuvalayam', one of Kerala's iconic converted rice barges. Enjoy lunch on board and observe life along the waterways. After disembarking the boat, drive a short distance to Cochin.

Day 13: Cochin City Tour
Discover Cochin on a heritage walking tour and see some of the wonderful historic architecture from the Portuguese colonisation including Fort Cochin, St Francis Church and Dutch Palace Museum. Explore fascinating Jew Town and visit the 16th century Pardesi Synagogue. Enjoy some free time discovering the wonderful shops and boutiques in the surrounding area.
