Small Group Tour Itinerary

DAY 1: BEIJING
Arrive in Beijing, transfer to your hotel, and meet your fellow travelers and Tour Leader (or local guide).

DAY 2: TIANANMEN SQUARE & FORBIDDEN CITY
Explore Beijing’s iconic sites including Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City. Share a home-cooked lunch with a local family living in the traditional residential alleyways known as ‘hutongs’. Take a rickshaw ride for close-up glimpses of life in these narrow laneways. Stroll to the city’s famous Drum Tower.

DAY 3: GREAT WALL OF CHINA
Travel to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China to explore this incredible creation.  This evening, choose to join an optional Peking duck dinner.

DAY 4: BEIJING TO XIAN
Considered a symbol of Beijing, visit the Temple of Heaven, a perfect example of Ming architecture. Explore the magnificent Summer Palace before taking a high-speed train to Xian.

DAY 5: XIAN CITY TOUR
Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Great Mosque. Walk through the Muslim Quarter to enjoy its lively street markets and fascinating local foods. Ride a bike atop the Old City Walls.

DAY 6: ARMY OF TERRACOTTA WARRIORS
Travel a short distance to the Army of Terracotta Warriors. After lunch, you have an opportunity to visit a Terracotta Warrior Factory to learn about the complex production process of these sculptures.

DAY 7: XIAN TO GUILIN
Take a flight to Guilin, located on the banks of the Li River. Visit Fubo Hill and explore an intriguing riverside village. Enjoy a tea sampling at a countryside tea plantation. In the evening, take a walking tour of the Central Square.

DAY 8: LONGSHENG
Following a local-style breakfast, travel to Longsheng. Drive past towering limestone cliffs and ascend the mountainside to a region inhabited by various ethnic hilltribes. Hike a short distance and be rewarded with spectacular views of China’s rice terraces.

DAY 9: LI RIVER CRUISE & YANGSHUO
Enjoy a wonderful boat journey along the Li River with stunning limestone karsts towering above the river. Spend the afternoon walking the cobblestone streets of Yangshuo.

DAY 10: YANGSHUO
Take part in a private Tai Chi lesson with a professional local instructor before venturing out to the farmlands surrounding Yangshuo for a fascinating farming village experience.

DAY 11: YANGSHUO TO YANGTZE CRUISE
Drive back to Guilin and fly to Chongqing. On arrival, make your way to the city for a short orientation tour and visit the Giant pandas at Chongqing Zoo. If time permits, experience the Chongqing of old at Ciqikou ancient town. This evening, board your boat for your cruise along the Yangtze River.

DAY 12: YANGTZE CRUISE
Cruise from Chongqing and stop at Shibaozhai, an impressive structure built against a steep hill. This evening, enjoy a buffet dinner on board.

DAY 13: THREE GORGES
Early risers are rewarded with magnificent river landscapes as the ship passes through the first and second gorges, Qutang and Wu Gorge. Later in the day, the ship enters the third of the main gorges, Xiling Gorge. This evening, cruise through the five level shiplock and moor downstream of the Three Gorges Dam.

DAY 14: YICHANG TO SHANGHAI
Take an early morning excursion to the Three Gorges Dam Project before continuing to cruise to Yichang, where the cruise ends. Fly to Shanghai and spend time exploring independently.

DAY 15: SHANGHAI CITY TOUR
Discover the historical riverfront area known as the Bund and visit a silk factory. Venture to one of the oldest neighborhoods in Shanghai and discover Confucius Temple.

DAY 16: ZHUJIAJIAO
Visit the traditional water canal town of Zhujiajiao and enjoy a short cruise along the narrow canals. Return to Shanghai and visit the Propaganda Poster Art Center. This evening, see a Chinese acrobat performance.

DAY 17: SHANGHAI
Visit Yu Garden before discovering the incredible backstreets where the small streets are bustling with local life. Enjoy some free time to explore Shanghai independently.

DAY 18: SHANGHAI
Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
