Small Group Tour Itinerary

DAYS 1-2: YANGON (RANGOON)
On arrival in Yangon transfer to your hotel for free time before joining your tour leader and traveling companions for a welcome drink, and an optional group dinner. A walking tour of the city reveals the majestic British-colonial architecture and the Sule Pagoda. Wander through the Indian Quarter and fascinating backstreets, then watch the sun sink behind the Shwedagon Pagoda - the golden spire that dominates the city’s skyline.

Hotel: Sule Shangri-La

DAYS 3-4: MANDALAY
Take an early morning flight to Mandalay. Head to the Jade Market then venture into the backstreets to see some cottage industries in action, such as the making of sugarcane candy. Tour the city in the afternoon, visiting sites such as the Royal Palace and Shwe Nandaw Kyuang. At Kuthodaw Pagoda, marvel at the 'World's Largest Book', over 700 stone slabs inscribed with Buddhist teachings. Meet the locals at a tea house or local beer station. Wander along a 165-year-old teak bridge, spanning over 1.2 kilometers. At Sagaing Hill, see hundreds of white-washed pagodas. With over 3,000 monks and nuns, this is widely regarded as the religious center of Myanmar. Here a trip to a local nunnery to share lunch with the nuns is a highlight for many travelers. If time permits, explore some interesting handicraft villages.

Hotel: Sedona Hotel Mandalay

DAYS 5-6: BAGAN
Spend a day on the Irrawaddy River as you travel to Bagan by boat (river conditions permitting). The city is famous for plains filled with thousands of beautiful temples. A full day of exploring Bagan includes Shwezigon Pagoda and the famous Ananda Temple before visiting Minnathu Village for an insight into local life. See the imposing 12th century Dhammayazika Paya and visit some handicraft workshops. End the day with a sunset view of Bagan from atop a beautiful terraced pagoda.

Note: The cruise to Bagan on day five is subject to cancellation if river conditions are unfavorable. In the event that this cruise is cancelled, transport to Bagan will be by flight and touring may be re-arranged.

Hotel: Aureum

DAYS 7-8: INLE LAKE
Fly to Heho before driving to Pindaya to visit Plan Bee, an organization which teaches local villagers beekeeping skills and improve their livelihoods. Cruise Inle Lake and discover the fascinating floating gardens, which rise and fall with the tides to avoid flooding. Visit a cheroot factory, where typical Burmese cigars are made by hand. Continue your exploration of Inle Lake with a visit to the morning hilltribe market, explore a local village and visit Inle Heritage, an organization that preserves the cultural and natural diversity of Inle Lake. After lunch, explore beautiful ruined ancient stupas before some free time.

Hotel: Inle Resort

DAYS 9-10: YANGON (RANGOON)
Fly to Yangon. Transfer to your hotel on arrival and enjoy free time in the city before attending a farewell dinner. On your last day, transfer to the airport.

Hotel: Sule Shangri-La
